Following the global outbreak of infectious diseases, the COVID-19 pandemic was officially confirmed in Iran on February 18, 2020, creating unprecedented conditions that posed a serious threat to public health due to its rapid transmission. Under these circumstances, the Iranian carpet, as a cultural and artistic product, represents not only aesthetic values but also reflects social relationships, cultural values, and the livelihoods of its producers. Consequently, it was inevitably affected by the social transformations caused by the pandemic. The main objective of this study is to investigate the impacts and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the production and distribution of Iranian carpets. Specifically, the research examines the challenges, opportunities, and consequences that emerged during the pandemic, with an emphasis on the production and distribution sectors, and proposes practical recommendations based on the perspectives of experts and professionals in this field. The primary research question is: What challenges and opportunities has the COVID-19 pandemic created in the production and distribution of Iranian carpets? This qualitative study was conducted using both documentary sources and field research through interviews with experts involved in carpet production and distribution. The study population consisted of 39 key experts, of whom 17 participants were selected using the snowball sampling method. The interview data were analyzed using the Grounded Theory approach (content analysis) within the framework of Victoria Alexander's Cultural Diamond Model. The findings indicate that the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Iranian carpet industry are evident across most of the scenarios identified by the experts. The pessimistic scenario resulted in severe disruptions to the production and distribution system, leading to a widespread decline in the production, distribution, and consumption of Iranian carpets. In contrast, the optimistic scenario highlights the readiness of some managers to adapt their businesses by employing knowledge and technological innovations to address the challenges posed by the pandemic.
