دیوارنگاری که به منظور تزئین و زیبایی فضا بهکار میرود، همواره در ایران مورد توجه بوده است. در بین روشهای مختلف دیوارنگاری، گونهای از نقاشیهای دیواری وجود دارد که بستر اجرایی آن بر روی بوم میباشد. این نمونه ابتدا بر روی کرباس کشیده شده و سپس بر دیوار نصب میشود. به این نقاشیها «دیوارنگارههای بومپارچه» گفته شده است. هدف از این نوشتار نگاهی اجمالی به این نوع دیوارنگارهها در ایران از منظر مکان، قدمت، موضوعات نقاشی، تکنیک اجرا و روش نصب آنها است. به دنبال این هدف، آرامگاه شیخ صفیالدین اردبیلی به دلیل داشتن بالاترین حجم از این سبک دیوارنگارهها مورد مطالعهی بیشتر قرار گرفته است. این پژوهش، با هدف آشنایی با دیوارنگارههای بومپارچه در ایران انجام شده و در پی پاسخ به این سؤالات است که دیوارنگارههای بومپارچه در ایران از نظر موضوع و شیوهی اجرا چه وضعیتی دارند؟ نقوش گیاهی و کتیبههای بهکاررفته در دیوارنگارههای آرامگاه شیخ صفی دارای چه ویژگیهای فرمی و مضمونی هستند و چگونه با کارکرد مذهبی و عرفانی بنا ارتباط پیدا میکنند؟ روش تحقیق در این مقاله از نوع کیفی است که به صورت توصیفی_تحلیلی انجام شده و شیوهی گردآوری اطلاعات مبتنی بر دادههای کتابخانهای و مشاهدهی میدانی از آرامگاه شیخصفیالدین اردبیلی است. این مقاله نشان داد که دیوارنگارههای بومپارچهای را باید همچون متونی فرهنگی و اجتماعی خواند. بدین معنا که هر رنگ، هر نقش و هر کتیبه نهتنها بخشی از زیبایی اثر است، بلکه حامل پیامی است که در گفتمان دینی و سیاسی صفوی معنا پیدا میکند. بررسی ابعاد ساختاری، زیباییشناختی، نمادشناختی و کارکردی این آثار و نسبت آنها با سیاست فرهنگی صفویان، جایگاه دیوارنگارهها را در تاریخ هنر اسلامی از «تزئینات جانبی» به «عناصر محوری در تولید معنا» ارتقا میدهد.
