از جمله ویژگیﻫﺎﻱ برجسته ﻫﻨﺮ چوب و صنایع وابسته در سرزمینهای ﺍﺳﻼﻣﻲ دورهی سلجوقیان، بهکارگیری از بناهای چوبی به همراه اسباب و لوازم چوبی است. این آثار عمدتاً در غالب بناهای مذهبی و مساجد تا به امروز حفظ و نگهداری شدهاند. ﺣﻮﺯﺓ ﺟﻐﺮﺍﻓﻴﺎﻳﻲ ﺍﻳﺮﺍﻥ، ﺳﻮﺭﻳﻪ ﻭ ﺗﺮﮐﻴﻪ امروزی نمونهای کمنظیر از مناطقی محسوب میگردد که ذیل حکومتهای اسلامی، به آثار چوبی توجه ویژهای شده است. از این رو، تبیین ﺗﺸﺎﺑﻬﺎﺕ و تمایزات ﺩﺭ ﺑﺮﺭﺳﻲ آثار تولید شدهی چوبی توسط هنرمندان مسلمان، ﺍﺯ ﺟﻤﻠﻪ ﻣﻮﺍﺭﺩ مورد ﺗﻮﺟﻪ تحقیق حاضر ﺍﺳﺖ. با ﺩﺭ ﻧﻈﺮ ﺩﺍﺷﺘﻦ ﺍﻳﻦ ﻣﺴﺌﻠﻪ، هدف از ﭘﮋﻭﻫﺶ ﺣﺎﺿﺮ ﻭﺍﮐﺎﻭﻱ و بررسی تطبیقی آثار چوبی مسجد جامع ابیانه کاشان و مسجد اولو سوریحصار در ترکیه است. بر این مبنا، تشابهات و تفاوتهای تکنیکی و نقوش بین آثار چوبی موجود در مسجد ابیانه کاشان و سیوریحصار ترکیه نیز سؤالی است که تحقیق حاضر در پی پاسخگویی به آن است. مطالعه بر روی این تشابهات و تفاوتها میتواند روشنگر روابط و تأثیرگذاری فی مابین هنرمندان ایرانی در دستگاه سلجوقیان روم باشد. از طرفی ثبت و بررسی آثار چوبی تاریخی با توجه به عدم پایداری مقاوم ماده چوب در برابر مخاطرات بیولوژیکی نیز ضروری به نظر میرسد. بازه زمانی و مکانی تحقیق به ترتیب: قرن 4 تا 6 ه.ق در نواحی ایران و آناتولی است. گردآوری اطلاعات با استفاده از منابع کتابخانهای و پیمایشهای میدانی صورت گرفته و مطالب با روش توصیفی- تحلیلی تدوین شدهاند. یافته های تحقیق نشان میدهد با اینکه کیفیت اجرای آذین بندیها بر روی آثار مسجد جامع ابیانه نسبتاً پایین است، اما کمیت در تعداد از ویژگیهای برتر این بنای منحصر به فرد در حوزه آثار چوبی است. مسجد اولو سیوریحصار از حیث ساختار و تعداد ستونها، نمودی از رشد فنی و تخصصی در حوزه ساخت سقفهای مسطح چوبی در ناحیه آناتولی است. این ترقی در زمینه کیفیت اجرای نقوش هم بهخوبی احساس میگردد
